Remembrance weekend and Wellingborough kindly stepped in for the 2022 Remembrance Day Parade and Game at Sharnbrook’s home pitch.  Starting the day off with a parade followed involving both teams including a couple of our members in uniform to remember the men and women who have served and fallen for their country with a 2-minute silence.

Wellingborough to start the game off with the kick, gathered by Sharnbrook, playing strong through hands and numerous phases.  Driving strong up the pitch to find the try line in the first 4 minutes, “Chris Beszant” driving over the line for the first try of the day and conversion 7-0 (4’).  Restart, again gathered by Sharnbrook, continuing with the momentum, playing through a number of phases before “Tom Dalton” finds space, braking through the defence, supported by “Isaac Clarke” before getting pushed into touch.  Resetting for a Wellingborough lineout, stolen at the lineout by Sharnbrook and playing of the maul moving the ball across to the opposite side of the pitch to “Will McGrellis”, braking through the defence, beating two defenders to find the try line in the corner, no conversion 12-0 (8’).  Restart and kick not ten, resetting for a Sharnbrook scrum, moving the ball across to the wing before getting pushed into touch.  Wellingborough lineout and playing through the phases before Wellingborough throws the ball away, gathered by Sharnbrook before again being driven into touch.  Wellingborough lineout but again stolen by Sharnbrook, playing off the lineout.  Sharnbrook knock on, coming down for a Wellingborough scrum, Wellingborough playing of the back of the scrum, finding space to score a try no conversion 12-5 (20’).  Sharnbrook with the restart, gathered by Wellingborough and receiving a penalty for a high tackle, Wellingborough scrum, again playing off the scrum and finding the space, braking through the defence to get there second try no conversion 12-10 (25’).  Restart and Sharnbrook receiving a penalty for obstruction, Sharnbrook kick touch, resetting for the lineout.  Strong lineout by Sharnbrook, going through the phases before being penalised for holding on, Wellingborough penalty and kicking into touch, resetting for a Wellingborough lineout.  Stolen by Sharnbrook at the lineout before receiving the penalty for a high tackle, Sharnbrook kick followed by a knock on by Sharnbrook, Wellingborough scrum.  Wellingborough holding strong in the scrum, playing through the phases to find the space and the try line no conversion 12-15 (40’). Half time.

Injuries in the first half – (Chris Compton, Will McGrellis, Tom Dalton, 1x Wellingborough)

Second half and Sharnbrook with the start and strong chase.  “Kieran Bonas” with the strong turnover, playing the ball before conceding a penalty, Wellingborough kicking for touch and lineout.  Forward pass by Wellingborough, Sharnbrook scrum, “Fred Linsley” pick at 8 before receiving another penalty, Wellingborough off feet, Sharnbrook scrum, again pick at 8, “Fred Linsley” injured just short of try line.  Knocked on by Wellingborough 10, Sharnbrook scrum, “Jack Symonds” braking a tackle to find the try line with conversion 19-15 (60”).  Restart and strong chase by Wellingborough to turnover the ball before getting driven into touch.  Sharnbrook lineout and kicked down field, Wellingborough gathering before breaking through the defence, “Chris Strand” with the try saving tackle and turnover.  Double knock on, resetting for a Wellingborough scrum and kicked down field.  Gathered by “Chris Strand” moving infield, going through two missed tackles before offloading to “Kieran Bonas” then to “David Spencer” to drive over the try line but held up.  Wellingborough goal line drop out.  Gathered by Sharnbrook and playing hands for “Tom Faulkner” to be held up also.  Wellingborough goal line drop out, again gathered by Sharnbrook, working through the phases before “Max McGrellis” drives over the line with the aid of “Matt Bullard” with conversion 26-15 (71’).  Restart and gathered by Sharnbrook, playing the phases, before “Kieran Bonas” with the brake to offload to “James Bliss” driving over the try line for the last score of the day, no conversion 31-15 (79’).
