Kettering RFC
Sharnbrook & Colworth RFC

Sharnbrook & Colworth travelled to Kettering 3rds for their season opener on 4th September. It was a beautiful day for rugby with three fixtures on that afternoon. With a squad of 15, Sharnbrook & Colworth knew they'd be in for a long battle.

Dave Morley started the scoring with a try in the 9th minute, with a strong surge over the line following solid phases from the pack. Tom Dalton broke through the defence and turned on the pace for his first try of the 2021 season, which was converted by James Paull. Entering the second half with a 12-0 lead, the Sharnbook & Colworth defence held strong in a hard-fought 15 minutes.

After a deep bench gave Kettering a jolt to get on the board with their first try, hooker Kieran Bonas retaliated with a try, shaking several defenders in his own half and then outlasting the Kettering back line in the 64th minute. Kettering bounced back, adding another try in the 68th minute to keep the pressure on, with both defences not giving in. In one final push after gaining possession deep in Kettering territory, Tom Dalton added his second try with a stretch in the corner to end the game.

Final score 22-10 to Sharnbook & Colworth.
